ABOUT HOOK & BARREL

Hook & Barrel Custom Yarnworks makes cozy handmade wearables and homegoods. Based out of Winnipeg, Hook & Barrel creates one-of-a-kind custom products in either a personalized process with the client, or off the rack through our webstore, ETSY, Instagram, or around the city at local craft sales and events throughout the city.

I, Shantel, the owner and head crocheter behind Hook & Barrel, became involved in the craft show circuit in Winnipeg and the Interlake region through my grandmothers, who fostered a love of crafts at an early age. At age six, my grandmother taught me spool knitting, and by the time I was eight, I had graduated to knitting and crocheting.

I started Hook & Barrel in January of 2016, during my second year of law school, after making handmade holiday gifts for my friends and family. It was a good excuse to buy a lot of yarn! I now spend my time balancing a full-time job after many years of school, with creating original items and replenishing my yarn supply.
